the treasure of the parlour
And of course, the main treasure is a unique grand piano with the serial number 19000. There are still no exact documents about how the piano got into the Kochubey mansion. This piano is unique, it is the only one of its kind, in such a design.

Made in the late XIX - early XX century, it not only visited the World's Fair in Paris in 1900 but also won the Grand Prix. It was created at the factory of Yakov Becker in St. Petersburg. The piano is in perfect condition. It is made of soft wood – Brazilian pear. The keys are made of ivory.

the interesting finding
An amazing finding, the main clue in our investigation is the advertising booklets of Becker's pianos, where our grand piano is presented. Most likely there were a large number of them, which means that our piano was well known to the public at the beginning of the last century.

The exquisite gilded bronze clock with a white enamel dial are cast in the style of the neorococo, characterized by intricate ornaments: figures of cupids, grapevines, vases, and so on. The clocks date back to the second half of the 19th century. The work of the workshop of Felix Chopin (not related to the great composer) the watchmaker worked in St. Petersburg for 40 years and cast bronze for both the Winter Palace and Pavlovsk.
At the height of its popularity, the factory had several buildings in St. Petersburg. On 25th Line of Vasilievsky Island, Shopen built a factory, which is particularly noteworthy for us because this is where the new HSE building stands – The Rope Shop of the former Red Nailer factory, where you already visited the gallery of Yakov Chernikhov – a famous constructivist architect.
